About Us
GameScreenie was designed from the ground up to be a game image resource for webmasters and journalists alike. We realize that it is difficult for game sites to gain press access to the hundreds of video game publishers and developers to gather clean, high quality images for use. We hope to provide a valuable service by taking care of the contacts and allowing users to access thousands of images in one visit.
At GameScreenie we continually strive to be the most up-to-date image resource and are continually in development on new features to make the site an extremely valuable resource for our users.
History
GameScreenie was conceived in April 2006 by Tyler Schmahl and was born out of past frustrations acquiring un-watermarked images for past video game websites. In May 2006 the site was launched using a heavily hacked and modified version of WordPress to track and categorize images. The idea for the site was well received and over a few months visitors were seen to steadily increase.
At the end of July 2006 Tyler moved with his family from Wisconsin to the Los Angeles California area to attend college in the fall. As a result of the move GameScreenie was abandoned but the idea and desire was not. During the winter break from college plans were set in motion to resurrect the site. A brand new CMS was commissioned and built which, unfortunately, after testing and trial and error proved not to be a viable solution to the vision of the site.
Stops and starts continued to harass the rebirth of GameScreenie until May 2007 when Tyler got in contact with Shane Shipston (Malicious) who agreed to build a working CMS meeting the plan and vision for GameScreenie. What you see now is the result of Shane's wonderful coding work. GameScreenie is now fully functional and has been going strong since June 2007.
